What are dental implants?

Dental implants are a popular solution for missing teeth. An implant is a small, titanium post that is surgically placed in your jawbone to function as a tooth root. This permanent option keeps your smile strong and healthy, and can improve the appearance of your smile. If you’re missing teeth, this fairly common procedure will strengthen and restore your smile with a natural-looking, long-lasting replacement that's easy to care for.

How much do dental implants cost?

Because dental implants are permanent and can last a lifetime, they are considered an investment in your dental health. Other solutions like dentures or bridges for missing teeth are removable and less durable, and will need to be replaced every few years. Though these removable options are initially less expensive, implants will save you time and money in the long run.

Money should never come between you and your dental health, and that’s why we provide resources to ensure that your treatment stays affordable and within your budget. We are in network with a wide range of insurance companies. If you don’t have insurance, we also offer payment plans for your treatment. To discuss pricing for your specific situation, give us a call today.

How do I know if implants are right for me?

During your consultation, Dr. Herrera will start by taking a 3D image of your teeth to get an accurate picture of your dental health. If Dr. Herrera determines that your gums are healthy enough and you have sufficient jawbone to support an implant, the implant placement process will begin.

Some patients require pre-prosthetic surgery before receiving an implant. Since implants are surgically placed in your jawbone, Dr. Herrera may need to perform minor surgery to ensure that your replacement tooth fits securely and comfortably in your mouth. Pre-prosthetic surgeries can involve bone smoothing and reshaping, the removal of excess bone, or the removal of excess gum tissue. Dr. Herrera is skilled and gentle, and he will make sure that your new tooth fits perfectly with pre-prosthetic surgery.

How does the dental implant process work?

During the placement process, Dr. Herrera will gently and skillfully place a small titanium post into your jawbone beneath the gum. Once your jawbone heals, the titanium post will act as a tooth root and you’ll come back to the Center for Oral and Facial Surgery to receive your implant restoration.

The restoration process involves securing a natural-looking, custom crown to the titanium post. After the restoration procedure, you’ll leave the our office with a strong, confident smile. Visit our office today to set up a consultation and see if dental implants are the right option for you.
